When Sandy and I started this company in 1984, we couldn’t have dreamed that L+M Development Partners would go on to become a nationally recognized developer of affordable and workforce housing. But almost 40 years later, we stand proudly with our dedicated team, who are the best in the business and have built an inclusive and impactful company dedicated to developing, building and managing affordable housing.

As we prepare for the next evolution of the company, it is time to make some changes that pave the way for the future generation of L+M leaders and support our mission: working together to build stronger communities.

I’m thrilled to share that Lisa Gomez is our new CEO. Lisa has been with the company for more than 15 years in various roles, from overseeing development to managing operations. Lisa is incredibly hardworking and passionate about the work that we do. I trust her to deliver on our mission and lead L+M into this next phase.

I will work with Lisa to gradually transition out of the day-to-day work and will take on the role of Chair of the Board. This will mean that I will be able to expand my efforts in some areas that I am passionate about, including impact investing, bolstering diversity in the industry, and philanthropic and community work. I will also remain an investor in L+M, and in my role as Chair, I will be in a position to offer advice if and when the business needs it. I am really looking forward to this next step and continuing to support socially responsible business development.

L+M co-founder and former Chairman Sandy Loewentheil retired at the end of 2021. Sandy and I have had a tremendous partnership over the last 37 years, and I am so grateful for the positive impact he has had on my life as a mentor, friend, and business partner. Additionally, our Vice Chair Debbie Kenyon will retire at the end of January 2022. Debbie, also a good friend and law school classmate, has been an integral part of L+M’s growth and kept us on track as the company grew from a two-person operation to where we are today. It has been my honor to work with them both. Their leadership, counsel, and ambition have been critical to L+M’s success, and I wish them the very best as they move into their next chapters.

Additionally, we are launching a new impact investment platform which will include two enterprises: L+M Fund Management LLC and LMXD. L+M Fund Management, led by Eben Ellertson and Carrie Van Syckel, will continue to invest institutional capital in affordable and workforce housing investments in New York City and across high-growth markets in the U.S. LMXD, led by David Dishy, will pursue mixed-income investment-based ground-up development deals in New York and around the country.

This is a very exciting time for L+M. I am so proud of our people and the work we’ve all done together. I can’t wait to see what L+M does next.
