On Wednesday, May 31st, 35 employees of L+M joined me and 15,000 runners for this year’s JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge in New York City’s Central Park.

The 5K race, open to companies of any size, brings colleagues together to run as a team.  The event is billed as a “global celebration of corporate teamwork, camaraderie and community,” and it truly was a great opportunity to socialize with the L+M team outside of the office. I’ve been a runner all my life and go for a run most mornings, so this was a fun challenge – not just for me, but also for L+M’s athletic team, while also in line with our company’s Community Investment goals for promoting healthy living.

The race is now in its 41st year and has expanded across the world. Today, the race is held in 13 cities, in seven different countries. The race is so popular in New York City that it is now spread over two days – with over 700 companies and about 30,000 runners crossing the finish line.  The atmosphere was festive, with everyone cheering each other on and being supportive – a great team-building experience.

This was L+M’s first year participating and certainly won’t be the last.
